About
Mohamed Shabana is an educational researcher and manager with over 10 years of experience in the fields of development, (inter)nationally funded projects, teacher training, and curriculum design. He has a Master's in International and Comparative Education from the American University in Cairo. Currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree (All But Dissertation stage) at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL), Mohamed has demonstrated his ability to take on significant responsibilities. He has led, managed, and participated in different educational projects at the American University in Cairo, focusing on in-service teacher professionalization and curriculum design. His research projects aim to engrain innovative pedagogies within pre-tertiary and tertiary education (with a special focus on the Faculties of Education). As a Postgraduate Program Specialist, Mohamed contributed to systemic capacity building within Egyptian Faculties of Education by reviewing and co-designing faculty development interventions and co-developing strategic educational activities. The skills he masters include developing the capacity of targeted beneficiaries, designing data collection approaches and tools (e.g., interviews and focus group discussions), collecting and analyzing data, developing the curriculum and pedagogy of different educational programs (including in- service teacher professionalization), building partnerships and liaising with various stakeholders, and reviewing work plans and reports. He is also the track lead of the Teaching for Adolescent Learners program in the Professional Educator Diploma at the American University in Cairo. Mohamed is bi-lingual and computer literate. He is operationally proficient in using software packages, including Microsoft Office and NVivo.
