Ryme Assaad
About
Ryme Assaad is the Principal Consultant at Sustain The World, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth, women, and marginalized community members in the transition toward sustainability. She also holds several board positions at SEFY International in the US, Sustainabiliti SARL social enterprise in Lebanon, and serves as the executive director of the RISE2030 project.
With a background in social entrepreneurship, engineering, activism, and economics, Ryme brings extensive experience to her work. She obtained an MSc (highest honors) in Sustainable Development Studies - Energy Systems & Green Technology emphasis - from UCD in partnership with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN). She also holds certificates from Harvard, Columbia University, King’s College London, and others.
Throughout her career, Ryme has successfully executed over 400 large-scale projects in collaboration with government ministries, public institutions, and development agencies across Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Her work primarily revolves around economic development and the advancement of resilient cities, with a particular focus on contracting, renewable energy, recycling, and the decentralization of grids in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Ryme's contributions have been recognized globally, earning her several prestigious project awards, including the 2020 UN Global Climate Action Award, the 2019 fellowship for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the 2018 Techwomen Award, and many others. She has also received numerous other honors for her work. In 2023, Ryme was selected as a Young Global Changer and was a finalist at the World Bank Youth Summit.
