The European Commission has announced €458 million in humanitarian aid for 2026 in order to help people in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt. The funding comes at a time when the region's needs are growing and major donors are cutting back on their support, which puts strain on programs that save lives.

Syria, where 16.5 million people still require aid, will receive the largest portion, €210 million. Palestine will receive €124 million that will help around 3.3 million people. Also, Lebanon will receive €100 million in aid with a focus on basic services, healthcare, and shelter.

Smaller sums include €8 million for Egypt, which is home to more than 1.5 million refugees and asylum seekers, and €15.5 million for Jordan to support refugees and necessary services. Key needs like food, healthcare, water, shelter, and education will be covered by the funding in all nations.

With €67.5 million taken from emergency reserves, the aid will be provided by humanitarian partners and UN agencies. As access issues and ongoing conflicts continue to restrict humanitarian operations throughout the region, the EU stated that the funding is based on urgent need.
