A new program is helping both refugees and local farmers in Jordan by giving them the support they need to grow food and income.

Jordan’s farms face many challenges, from scarce water to limited land. At the same time, thousands of refugees in the country are struggling to find stable work. A new project called the Refugee Investment Facility is stepping in to connect these two needs. It aims to bring investment into agriculture while creating jobs for both locals and refugees.

There is a very good idea, which is to support businesses that work with farmers and refugee communities so they can grow more crops, sell products at better prices, and expand into new markets. With fresh investment, farmers can access modern tools, better seeds, and training that make their work more efficient and sustainable.

This approach also helps refugees who often face barriers in finding formal jobs. By linking them with agricultural businesses, the program provides new chances to work and earn a steady income. It also strengthens local communities by showing how refugees can contribute to the economy rather than compete for limited resources.

If successful, the model could inspire other countries facing similar challenges. Jordan’s experience shows that when investment is directed wisely, it can create real impact: more food, stronger businesses, and hope for both farmers and refugees.
