EU Sends More Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon as Needs Continue to Grow
The European Union has continued its support for Lebanon by sending another humanitarian aid flight to Beirut. The shipment includes very important medical supplies, shelter materials, and other essential items for people affected by the ongoing crisis. The flight is the seventh humanitarian air bridge operation organised by the EU to help vulnerable communities across the country.
European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib visited Lebanon to hold meetings with senior Lebanese officials and working with humanitarian organisations that are providing assistance on the ground.
She also visited various EU-funded projects, including shelters, a children's hospital, a reception centre for syrian refugees, and communities impacted by recent violence.
Lebanon is facing a growing humanitarian crisis, with approximately three million people requiring assistance even prior to the most recent escalation of conflict in March of 2026. Since then, thousands of people have died or been injured, over one million have been displaced from their homes and many families are struggling to acquire enough food or basic services.
To support those in need, the EU has provided €100 million in humanitarian funding to Lebanon this year alone, bringing its total humanitarian assistance since 2011 to €1 billion.
Alongside financial support, EU countries have delivered emergency supplies through humanitarian flights and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The European Union says it remains committed to standing with the people of Lebanon and plans to send additional aid in the coming weeks.
