Anera and Swedish Dialogue Institute Promote Local Solutions for Economic Opportunities in the Levant
Government officials, aid organizations, civil society groups, and private sector representatives gathered in Amman to discuss how the European Union's Pact for the Mediterranean can create real opportunities for people in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine.
The workshop was organized by Anera and the Swedish Dialogue Institute and focused on improving livelihoods, skills development, and access to jobs. Participants explored ways to help young people, women, and communities affected by conflict and displacement build better futures.
Representatives from the European Union, United Nations agencies, local organizations, and businesses shared experiences from projects that support employment, entrepreneurship, and vocational training. Discussions highlighted the importance of connecting training programs with actual job opportunities.
A key message throughout the event was that policies alone are not enough. Participants stressed that success depends on strong partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and communities that understand local needs and challenges.
The workshop ended with recommendations to strengthen cooperation, invest in locally led solutions, and create more economic opportunities across the region. Participants agreed that the Pact can only succeed if its goals are turned into practical actions that improve people's daily lives
