ActionAid UK

Overview

ActionAid UK is the UK branch of ActionAid International, a global federation dedicated to eradicating poverty and promoting social justice, gender equality, and human rights. Founded in 1972, ActionAid began as a child sponsorship charity and has since evolved to focus on grassroots programs, emergency relief, and advocacy.

The mission of ActionAid UK is to achieve social justice and gender equality by partnering with communities and organizations to shift power and resources. Key focus areas include women's rights, economic justice, environmental justice, and emergency response. ActionAid employs a rights-based approach, engaging in community-led programs that address education, healthcare, and food security. Through campaigns and training, the organization empowers marginalized groups and advocates for systemic change.
