AfricTivistes
Overview
AfricTivistes (The African League of Cyber-Activists and Bloggers for Democracy) is a pan-African civil society organization founded in November 2015 by Cheikh Fall and Aisha Dabo. Headquartered in Dakar, Senegal, the organization brings together over 400 members from approximately 45 African countries. It operates as a network of cyber-activists, bloggers, civic tech innovators, and digital advocates working to strengthen democracy, human rights, and good governance across the continent.
The mission of AfricTivistes is rooted in the belief that digital technologies can be powerful tools for civic engagement and accountability. The organization acts as both a watchdog—monitoring political commitments—and a think tank that proposes innovative governance solutions. It uses digital infrastructure, research, social media, advocacy campaigns, media innovation, and community mobilization to promote civic participation and empower citizens. Its thematic areas include cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, quality information, participatory democracy, and e-governance.
