Overview

AIFO is an in international social and health organization.  They have been operating with the aim of promoting global health and inclusive development of the most vulnerable people, with particular attention to people with disabilities, women and children.

AIFO has been engaged since 1961 in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of people affected by leprosy, it moves in synergy with the national health systems within the strategies of the WHO. It is part of the Global partnership for zero Leprosy and of the Italian Network against MTDs (forgotten tropical diseases). AIFO is strongly committed to ensuring that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is signed by countries and applied in society by facilitating an inclusive approach.

AIFO collaborates with United Nations agencies such as UNICEF, UNESCO, UNDESA and UNHCR, with AICS and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the European Commission.
