The Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa (APJM) is a Lebanese non-governmental organization dedicated to conserving the biodiversity, cultural heritage, and sustainable development of the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO-designated site in the Mount Lebanon range. APJM focuses on environmental conservation by protecting the region’s rich flora and fauna, including rare and endemic species. It also works to preserve the area’s cultural heritage, which includes ancient ruins, rock inscriptions, and archaeological sites from Phoenician, Roman, and Ottoman times. In addition, the organization promotes sustainable development by supporting local communities through eco-tourism, responsible agriculture, and traditional crafts, ensuring economic benefits align with conservation goals. APJM is also involved in scientific research and educational programs to raise awareness about the reserve’s ecological importance. Through reforestation projects, ecotourism initiatives, and community engagement, APJM strives to balance nature preservation with the well-being of the surrounding population.
