Baseera Foundation

Overview

Baseera is an Egyptian non-profit organization, founded in 2004 to empower and enable visually impaired people to realize their abilities and become independent, proactive, and productive individuals in an accepting society.

Baseera’s service model follows a fully integrated approach rather than a charitable one starting with prevention, treatment, early intervention, full rehabilitation services, in addition to training courses to surrounding communities of visually impaired people (caregivers, teachers, health professionals), and awareness raising activities to the public about the visually impaired people, their capabilities, and how to support them.

Baseera also advocates the making, amendment, and implementation of policies for people with visual impairment, and conducts on-going research on their status in Egypt, their needs, and the different international approaches for education and rehabilitation.
