Better Care Network

Overview

The Better Care Network (BCN) is an interagency network established in 2003 to promote global collaboration and information exchange regarding children without adequate family care. Formed through partnerships with organizations such as USAID, UNICEF, and Save the Children UK, BCN has grown into a formal organization supported by the Tides Center since 2016. It is based in New York, near the UN Headquarters.

BCN's mission is to facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, including organizations, governments, and individuals, to improve children's care. Its objectives include reducing child separation, supporting family-based care options, and establishing care standards. The organization provides essential functions such as managing relationships among partners, offering technical assistance, and serving as a clearinghouse for information on child care. BCN also coordinates initiatives aimed at transforming care systems and promoting family strengthening, while advocating for the rights of children in care.
