BirdLife International

Overview

BirdLife International is a global partnership of non-governmental organizations working to conserve birds, their habitats, and global biodiversity. The organization also advocates for the sustainable use of natural resources and collaborates with local communities to protect ecosystems. BirdLife Africa, the regional arm of BirdLife International, plays a key role in addressing the continent’s unique conservation challenges. It works across sub-Saharan Africa and the islands to safeguard important bird and biodiversity areas, combat habitat loss, and engage communities in conservation efforts. The organization partners with local NGOs in over 25 African countries, supporting grassroots action, capacity building, and policy advocacy. BirdLife Africa is also involved in major conservation initiatives, including tackling illegal bird trade and protecting migratory bird routes, making it a leading voice in avian and environmental conservation across the continent.
