Confederation of Persons with Disabilities
Overview
Confederation of persons with disabilities was established in 2006 in Ankara by the Turkish Federation of the Blind, the Federation of the Mentally Handicapped and the Federation of the Physically Handicapped. It has being struggling with the human rights perspective to improve and strengthen the human rights of the persons with disabilities since its foundation. It has been a Pioneer of the disability movement in Turkey. Every year, it has expanded its advocacy activities, diversified its advocacy tools, in order to support persons with disabilities and increase their participation in decision-making process in many sectors including employment, health, education etc. The Confederation is today still a bridge between public sector, legislators and civil society with the demands of independent living and accessibility.
