The Cool Up programme is a regional initiative focused on promoting sustainable and climate-friendly cooling solutions in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Türkiye. Funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) under the International Climate Initiative (IKI), the programme is implemented by Guidehouse in collaboration with the UNDP, the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), and national partners. Cool Up aims to address the growing demand for cooling in the region while minimizing its environmental impact, particularly by phasing down harmful refrigerants and improving energy efficiency. The programme supports the development of National Cooling Action Plans, offers training for technicians and financial stakeholders, and facilitates demonstration projects that showcase innovative, low-emission cooling technologies using natural refrigerants. Through policy support, capacity building, financial engagement, and real-world implementation, Cool Up contributes to climate action goals and the transition toward sustainable cooling practices.
