CORE

Overview

CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is a global nonprofit humanitarian organization founded in response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake by actor Sean Penn and Ann Lee. It responds rapidly to natural disasters, conflicts, public health emergencies, and other crises in underserved communities worldwide, providing immediate relief and long‑term recovery support. CORE’s work spans emergency response and preparedness, health access, and climate change efforts, and it emphasizes community‑led solutions—listening to affected populations and partnering with local leaders and organizations to tailor assistance. Over the years, the organization has expanded from Haiti to regions including the U.S., Ukraine, Sudan, Pakistan, and beyond, delivering aid such as cash assistance, medical supplies, and rebuilding support while empowering communities to be more resilient in the face of future crises.
