Earthwatch

Overview

Earthwatch combines volunteer opportunities for individuals from all walks of life with scientific research expeditions to conserve wildlife and the environment. Since 1971, Earthwatch has protected our shared planet, engaging people worldwide in scientific field research and education in order to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. Since 1971 Earthwatch has inspired 93,000 volunteers to join vital conservation research projects in the field, helping to make us the best environmental volunteer non-profit organization in the world. Earthwatch supports research projects in four key areas: • Ocean Health - Coastal ecosystems, marine biodiversity conservation • Wildlife & Ecosystems - Biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry, freshwater • Climate Change - Adaptation, mitigation • Archaeology & Culture - Sacred landscapes, indigenous knowledge systems
