Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD)

Overview

The Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD) is a development initiative established by the Lebanese government in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. Its primary mission is to combat poverty and promote sustainable development in Lebanon by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), improving access to microcredit, and implementing community development projects. The ESFD focuses on enhancing economic opportunities for marginalized groups, particularly in underdeveloped and rural areas, through job creation and capacity-building programs. By financing income-generating activities and infrastructure projects, the ESFD aims to reduce unemployment, strengthen local economies, and foster social inclusion. Its approach combines financial support with technical assistance to ensure long-term impact and empowerment of beneficiaries.
