Episcocare
Overview
EpiscoCare was established in 2003 in Cairo, Egypt, as a legal (Non-Governmental Organisation or NGO) body working under the umbrella of the Episcopal/Anglican Diocese of Egypt. Episcocare works as the arm of the Good Samaritan to support target communities to obtain basic rights through quality development and educational programmes in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organisations in the community.
EpiscoCare runs comprehensive development programmes in each of the target communities. The programmes cover the areas of education, economic opportunity, family support, health and environment, and capacity-building. All programmes respect the rules, customs, traditions, and religious convictions of the beneficiaries.
EpiscoCare uses a participatory research approach when establishing a new community centre holding focus groups in order to listen to the needs of specific demographics before setting priorities and arranging training for local field staff to tailor their projects to the needs of the local population.
