Overview
Free Press Unlimited is an international press freedom organization based in Amsterdam, dedicated to making independent news and information accessible globally, especially in areas with limited press freedom. As a not-for-profit foundation, it collaborates with over 300 local media partners across more than 50 countries and manages over 100 media projects worldwide. The organization is led by Ruth Kronenburg and Leon Willems, supported by a team of more than 80 professionals.
The mission of Free Press Unlimited is to ensure that independent news remains available to everyone, contributing to functioning democracies and inclusive societies. It provides support to journalists and media professionals through capacity building, emergency assistance, advocacy for press freedom, and awareness campaigns. The organization focuses on creating a resilient information ecosystem, ensuring journalists can work safely, and promoting financial sustainability for independent media.
