Friends of Nature
Overview
Friends of Nature is the first environmental NGO established in Lebanon in 1972; we promoted and nursed the rise of the environmental movement in Lebanon. FON created milestones for the environmental cause in Lebanon, one of which is the creation of the first marine and terrestrial nature reserves.
We pioneered the engagement of the local community in valuing and preserving their natural heritage. We also pioneered conservation through legislation with the drafting, lobbying, and ensuring the decreeing and ratification of the first law classifying and protecting a nature site as a nature reserve thus providing the legislative precedence for following accomplishments.
Our vision is to enhance survivorship potentials for all living beings to help ensure a better quality of life for humankind.
