The Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA) is an initiative operating under Save the Children that focuses on enabling people and organizations worldwide to prepare for and respond effectively to crises in their own countries. It provides high-quality learning and capacity-building opportunities aimed at strengthening the skills and capabilities of humanitarian workers and local civil society actors. HLA envisions a world where everyone has the knowledge and tools to manage emergencies and save lives. Its work is guided by three main pillars: promoting localized and inclusive leadership, building technical expertise to ensure affected communities are part of humanitarian action, and strengthening civil society organizations to sustain and lead their own capacity development. The Academy operates through a mix of emergency response funding and long-term partnerships, and it also offers digital learning platforms and customized training services to advance innovation and accessibility in humanitarian learning.
