Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
Overview
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a global nonprofit research and policy organization founded in 2002 by economist Dean Karlan. Dedicated to reducing global poverty through evidence-based solutions, IPA collaborates with over 400 academic researchers and partners to design and evaluate interventions aimed at improving the lives of those living in poverty. Utilizing rigorous methodologies, including randomized controlled trials, IPA assesses the effectiveness of programs across various sectors such as education, health, agriculture, financial inclusion, and governance. With a presence in 19 countries and projects in over 30 more, IPA works closely with governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders to ensure that successful interventions are scaled and integrated into policy and practice. Through its commitment to high-quality research and collaboration, IPA strives to inform decision-making and promote programs that have a measurable impact on reducing poverty worldwide.
