International Media Support
Overview
International Media Support (IMS) is a non-profit organization based in Copenhagen, Denmark, dedicated to bolstering the capacity of media in regions affected by armed conflict, political instability, and authoritarian regimes. Established in 2001 in response to the misuse of media during the conflicts in Rwanda and the Balkans, IMS aims to promote press freedom, support independent journalism, and ensure the safety of media professionals. Operating in over 30 countries across four continents, IMS collaborates with local and international partners to provide legal assistance, technical support, and training to journalists and media outlets. The organization emphasizes the importance of gender balance and the inclusion of marginalized groups in media, recognizing their vital role in democratic development. Through initiatives like the digital platform MediaBridge, IMS facilitates the sharing of compelling stories from hard-to-reach areas, contributing to informed public discourse and societal resilience.
