International Transport Workers` Federation (ITF)

Overview

The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) is a global, democratic federation of transport workers' trade unions, established in 1896. It represents approximately 19.7 million workers across 677 unions in 149 countries, encompassing sectors such as civil aviation, maritime, railways, road transport, urban transport, fisheries, tourism, and inland navigation. The ITF's mission is to advocate for the rights, equality, and justice of transport workers worldwide. It actively engages with international bodies such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to influence decisions affecting employment conditions and safety in the transport industry. The federation also organizes international solidarity actions to support member unions facing conflicts with employers or governments.
