The Japan International Volunteer Center (JVC) is a Tokyo-based international NGO founded in 1980. It began with Japanese volunteers who responded to the Indochina refugee crisis in Thailand. Since then, JVC has expanded its mission to support communities in over 20 countries, focusing on areas such as rural development, forest conservation, post-conflict reconstruction, peacebuilding, medical care, disaster relief, and advocacy. The organization aims to build peaceful and self-sustainable societies by implementing activities that meet local needs and situations, with an eye toward the futures of people and the communities they live in.
