Overview

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a prestigious graduate-level research university located in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, on the Red Sea coast. Established in 2009 with a substantial endowment from King Abdullah, the university was created to advance world-class research, innovation, and economic development both within Saudi Arabia and globally. It is the first mixed-gender university in the Kingdom and operates entirely in English, attracting a diverse international faculty and student body from over 60 countries.

Spanning over 36 square kilometers, KAUST is recognized as the world’s largest LEED Platinum-certified campus, designed to support sustainable research and living. The university is structured into three interdisciplinary academic divisions: Biological and Environmental Science & Engineering (BESE), Computer, Electrical & Mathematical Science & Engineering (CEMSE), and Physical Science & Engineering (PSE). These divisions focus on solving global challenges in areas such as renewable energy, water, food security, environmental science, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials.
