La Ligue Tunisienne des droits de l`Homme (LTDH)

Overview

The Tunisian League of Human Rights or LTDH is an association founded in 1976 and aimed at the observation and defense of human rights in Tunisia by Hassib Ben Ammar . She is the dean of human rights leagues in Africa and the Arab world.

In 2008 , the LTDH had nearly 3,000 members, compared to just over 4,200 at the end of the 1980s , who paid a symbolic membership fee of ten dinars far from covering general expenses.. New memberships have been frozen since 1994 , for fear of the infiltration of Islamist militants or people close to power in its ranks. The members of the executive committee are all volunteers. In addition to the headquarters located on rue de Bordeaux in Tunis , the association has ten regional offices.
