MUSAWA
Overview
MUSAWA, officially known as the Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession, is a neutral, non-partisan, and independent Palestinian civil society organization. Established in 2002 by lawyers, former judges, and human rights activists, it is dedicated to defending the independence of the judiciary and the legal profession. The organization operates from offices in Ramallah and Gaza, focusing on monitoring the performance of justice pillars in Palestine.MUSAWA recognizes the importance of a sound legal and judicial system as essential to building the Palestinian state. To this end, it works towards promoting respect for the rule of law by monitoring, documenting, and addressing violations; ensuring the separation of powers among government branches; building the capacities of legal professionals; and guaranteeing that Palestinian law is accessible, fair, effective, and accountable.
