Nonviolence International

Overview

Nonviolence International is a U.S.-based non-governmental organization founded in 1989 by Palestinian activist Mubarak Awad. The organization promotes active nonviolent action as a means of addressing conflict, advancing human rights, and building more peaceful and just societies worldwide. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., it operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Nonviolence International supports grassroots movements, peacebuilding initiatives, and civil society organizations through advocacy, training, networking, storytelling, and fiscal sponsorship. Its vision is a world where justice, peace, environmental sustainability, and human dignity are realized, and where conflicts are resolved without violence. The organization has worked with activists and movements across multiple regions, helping to strengthen nonviolent campaigns and promote alternatives to armed conflict and oppression.
