Rural Women`s Development Society
Overview
The Rural Women's Development Society (RWDS) is a Palestinian non-governmental organization established in 1987, originally as the women's group within the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC). RWDS is dedicated to promoting the rights of rural women by fostering empowering and supportive environments within their communities. With a strong grassroots presence, the organization has over 3,000 women members engaged in a network of 60 women's clubs across the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The mission of RWDS is to create a feminist movement in the Palestinian countryside that advocates for and develops women's social, economic, and political rights. Its strategic objectives for 2025-2028 include enhancing the resilience of Palestinian rural women through economic empowerment, improving the legislative, policy, and social environment to safeguard their rights, and strengthening RWDS's internal performance to effectively achieve its mission. To reach these goals, RWDS implements innovative projects that focus on economic empowerment, political and social participation, and violence prevention. The organization employs education, community participation, skill-building, and advocacy as tools to develop women into strong, committed, and capable leaders who can contribute meaningfully to their communities.
