The Jerusalemite Youth Cultural Forum (JYCF)

Overview

The Jerusalemite Youth Cultural Forum (JYCF) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to cultural, educational, social, and economic initiatives. It is officially recognized by the Palestinian Ministry of Interior and was established in 2005 by a group of young Palestinians. The primary objective of the JYCF is to amplify the voices of Silwan’s inhabitants, advocating for their fundamental rights and freedoms. Housed in a historically significant 200-year-old building, formerly a mosque, the JYCF serves as a symbol of resilience and steadfastness.

The JYCF was recognized with the Welfare Association’s (Taawon) Award for Jerusalem in recognition of its notable Sanad project, which focuses on nurturing artistic talents among individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the JYCF collaborates with the Palestinian Ministry of Education to implement art education programs and promote artistic activities in Palestinian schools throughout Jerusalem. The mission of the JYCF is to foster community development that strengthens the resilience of Silwan’s residents while preserving their Palestinian identity and cultural heritage.
