The SDG Academy, the education initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), has actively operated in the MENA region through partnerships and localized programs. In 2018, it helped establish the SDG Center of Excellence for the Arab Region in Abu Dhabi to serve as a regional hub for training, research, and collaboration on sustainable development. The following year, it partnered with Edraak, the Arab world’s leading non-profit online learning platform, to translate and adapt courses into Arabic and make SDG-focused education more accessible to learners across the region. The Academy has also developed tailored content, such as the course Natural Resources for Sustainable Development in the Middle East and North Africa, and supported youth engagement in regional initiatives like MENA Climate Week. Through these efforts, the SDG Academy has expanded its global mission to strengthen knowledge, skills, and networks that advance the Sustainable Development Goals in Arab countries.
