Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)

Overview

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is a Geneva-based membership organisation that works globally to unite and support cancer societies, health ministries, research institutes, patient groups, and the private sector in reducing the global cancer burden. Rather than running hospitals or delivering large-scale treatment programmes, UICC focuses on strengthening the capacity of its member organisations through advocacy, leadership development, training, small grants, and technical support. It plays a key convening role, building partnerships with the World Health Organization, IARC, IAEA, UN agencies, and leading cancer organisations, while also engaging pharmaceutical and private sector partners through initiatives like the Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) Coalition. UICC provides fellowships, travel grants, and seed funding for advocacy and patient support projects, while mobilising its network for global campaigns such as World Cancer Day. In the MENA region, it supports local cancer societies, patient organisations, and ministries of health through capacity-building and partnerships, helping them strengthen national cancer control strategies and improve access to prevention, treatment, and care.
