Union of Palestinian Women`s Committees

Overview

The Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC) is a Palestinian non-profit, grassroots women’s organization founded in 1980 with the aim of empowering Palestinian women socially, economically and politically and contributing to the broader Palestinian national struggle against the Israeli military occupation. It describes itself as a progressive feminist and civil society group working to build a democratic Palestinian community free from discrimination and to advance women’s rights as part of human rights more generally, including advocacy, legal support, and programs for women’s participation and well-being. The organization has been a visible part of the Palestinian women’s movement and civil society for decades.
