United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF)

Overview

The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) is the central strategic document that guides the United Nations’ development work in a country. Developed in close partnership with national governments, it outlines how the UN system will support national development priorities and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The framework reflects a unified and coordinated approach among all UN agencies operating in the country, promoting coherence and maximizing impact. Rooted in a Common Country Analysis (CCA), the UNSDCF identifies key challenges and opportunities in the development landscape and sets out expected results over a multi-year period, typically four to five years. It emphasizes national ownership, mutual accountability, and inclusive partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders. By aligning UN support with national plans, the UNSDCF ensures that development cooperation is relevant, targeted, and transformative, addressing areas such as poverty, inequality, gender equality, climate action, governance, and sustainable economic growth.
