Upper Egypt Diabetes Association
Overview
The Upper Egypt Diabetes Association (UEDA), established in 2006, is a distinguished Egyptian organization committed to enhancing diabetes care and advocacy, initially focusing on Upper Egypt and extending its reach throughout the country. Founded by a group of specialized doctors and health professionals, UEDA aims to combat diabetes and provide necessary support to those affected and their families. The association's primary focus areas include diabetes education, prevention, and support for children with diabetes. UEDA conducts educational sessions across Upper Egypt governorates—such as Fayoum, Bani Sweif, Minia, Assiut, Sohag, Luxor, and Aswan—to raise awareness and promote preventive measures. Additionally, UEDA engages in scientific research, including clinical trials in collaboration with Dresden University, and maintains a national diabetes registry. The association is an active member of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) since 2013, reflecting its commitment to global diabetes initiatives.
