We Love Reading
Overview
We Love Reading is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 2006 by Dr. Rana Dajani in Jordan, operating under the patronage of the Taghyeer organization. Its mission is to foster a love of reading among children by training local volunteers—referred to as Reading Ambassadors—to conduct regular read-aloud sessions in public spaces within their communities. This simple, sustainable, and scalable model has led to the establishment of thousands of neighborhood libraries across more than 71 countries. Beyond promoting literacy, We Love Reading emphasizes social responsibility, civic engagement, and psychological well-being, aiming to empower individuals to become change-makers in their societies. The organization has also developed 38 children's books covering themes such as environmental awareness, empathy, and non-violence, collaborating with local writers and illustrators to ensure cultural relevance. Through partnerships with international universities, We Love Reading engages in rigorous research to continually assess and enhance the impact of its programs.
