In a ceremony held in Ramallah, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) announced the recipients of grants among Palestinian farmers and agribusiness owners, marking the conclusion of the SANET project's micro-grants phase. The Ministry of Labour and the Palestinian Employment Fund collaborated to deliver the grants, which promote sustainable agriculture.
The SANET project, which is being carried out by CIHEAM Bari in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to improve value chains for plums and fodder crops and increase farmer resilience. It encourages digital solutions in agri-food activities, supports cooperatives, increases market access, and supports women's and youth entrepreneurship.
AICS Jerusalem Head Mirko Tricoli said the project received 344 applications, with 50 beneficiaries selected to receive support. He noted that SANET combines value chain development, support for small producers, and job creation under Italy’s integrated development approach.
Palestinian officials highlighted agriculture as a key sector for jobs and economic resilience. Ministers of Labor and Agriculture stressed ongoing efforts to expand employment, improve farmer skills, strengthen value chains, and support local producers despite difficult conditions, reinforcing agriculture’s role in livelihoods and food security
