In this webinar, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) discuss the urgent and rising humanitarian needs of nearly 210,000 Palestine refugees in Lebanon, including those displaced from Syria. Recent data showed the currency devaluation, rising inflation and rampant unemployment have pushed more than 70% of already vulnerable Palestine refugees into poverty. In this rapidly deteriorating context, with COVID-19 numbers rising, UNRWA continues to provide some cash assistance as well as medical hardship stipends to thousands of vulnerable refugees. Amidst this mounting and unprecedented crisis, the Agency faces an ongoing funding shortfall that is threatening these two critical services that refugees in Lebanon increasingly rely upon to meet their most basic human needs.
