NGOs Demand Real Ceasefire as Violence Continues in Lebanon
Fighting and displacement having stopped in Lebanon although a ceasefire was announced. Airstrikes and attacks are still happening in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and near Beirut. More than 600 people have reportedly been killed since the ceasefire began, including women, children, and emergency workers.
Humanitarian organizations said many families are suffering quite significantly and around one million people remain displaced and are living in shelters, rented rooms, or unsafe places like cars and garages. Many schools were turned into shelters, stopping children from continuing their education. Aid workers also warned that hospitals, rescue teams, and civilian buildings have been hit during attacks.
NGOs in Lebanon called for a real and lasting ceasefire. They asked all sides to stop attacks on civilians and allow safe humanitarian aid to reach affected communities. The groups also demanded safe conditions for displaced people to return home and begin rebuilding their lives.
The organizations urged the international community to take stronger diplomatic action to end the violence permanently. They also asked for investigations into possible violations of international law and called for more funding to support food, healthcare, water, and shelter for people affected by the conflict.
