New Israeli registration regulations requiring aid organisations to provide the personal information of their employees in Gaza and the West Bank have been rejected by Oxfam. After failing to meet a deadline on January 1st, the organization and 36 other organisations are in danger of being shut down. Oxfam claims that disclosing personal information, such as the IDs and family details of Palestinian workers, is against international law and endangers people's lives.

The organization is very important for the region because they also do lots of work for the water and waste water infrastructure. They guarantee that families have access to clean water and technical assistance by collaborating with the Palestinian Farmers Union and local municipalities. To the Oxfam leaders and authoritiest those connections are more important than the government licence.

Oxfam anticipates continuing its work despite the possibility of deregistration. They can carry on their work even if their official status is revoked because they employ a "local-first" model, in which Palestinian partners oversee the projects. By using this tactic, they are able to get around the new limitations and continue to assist those in need.
