Search for Common Ground Tunisia is currently implementing in partnership with FHI360 the USAID-funded Ma3an program in Tunisia, which aims to increase the capacity of communities to withstand political, social, and economic stresses and shocks by achieving the following objectives:

     - Strengthening community resilience
     - Mitigating community vulnerabilities; and
     - Improving the capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model.

Together with USAID-Tunisia’s programs in accountability, decentralization, and youth entrepreneurship, Ma3an project consolidates democratic progress while fostering social cohesion in targeted areas

The project uses a community resilience process that begins with youth-led mapping of community opportunities and challenges. The youth mappers then present their findings and priorities at collaborative stakeholder action-planning workshops and work with a cross-section of community stakeholders to develop activities that address the prioritized needs. These activities strengthen collaboration among community members while also addressing community and youth development needs

Ma3an projects targets 30 of Tunisia’s most vulnerable communities promoting active civic engagement while supporting such communities to generate sustainable resources for development, such as public- and private-sector resources in areas that are vulnerable to instability.

To achieve this objective, Search for Common Grounds opted to create a web-based game “Ma3an Challenge”, which will engage youth in digital campaigns with real-world activities that they can complete in their local communities. The online game aims at changing the attitudes of youth players towards active civic engagement including conflict resolution, social cohesion and resilience.

The game will be implemented through a combined mobile website and social media format, leveraging the advantages of both systems to produce a platform that is widely accessible across mobile and computer operating systems and scalable for increased reach and impact to induce social transformation. Media and Communication activities include;

     - The design of smartphone-friendly website and linked social media pages
     - Gaming Platform
-
Design and implementing a communication and social media strategy
-
Manage social media platforms and interacting with the players and audience of the game

In order to ensure that the most vulnerable are targeted, the project has formed a vulnerability mitigation team to identify and reduce community-specific vulnerabilities.
Media Companies need to design online games and online platforms in a participatory manner, such as conducting creative workshop(s), to gather audience’s input and feedback on platform design, communication, and branding identity ideas.
