On September 11, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions with the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco in the capital city Rabat, for the Project on Comprehensive Sediment Management for Dam Reservoirs in Morocco, a technical cooperation for development planning.

The signatures were exchanged between General Director Zerouali Abdelaziz of Directorate General of Hydraulics, Ministry of Equipment and Water of the Kingdom of Morocco and Chief Representative Tomoyuki Kawabata of JICA Morocco Office.

The project outline is explained below.

  • Project Objective:
    A comprehensive sediment management plan in collaboration with all stakeholders including local communities is formulated for Moulouya River Basin and Sebou River Basin, and the capacity development for planning and implementation of comprehensive sediment management is ensured for all stakeholders.
