The Oak Foundation has launched a program to help doctors and nurses working in countries hit by war. The goal is to give them the skills and tools they need to treat people safely, even in very dangerous conditions.
In conflict zones, hospitals are often destroyed and supplies are limited. Health workers face great risks while trying to save lives. Many do not get enough training to deal with the injuries and trauma caused by war.
The program, created with the UK group UK-Med, offers special courses and emergency kits. Doctors and nurses learn how to treat wounds, handle large numbers of patients, and protect themselves while working in unsafe areas.
So far, hundreds of medical staff from places like Yemen, Ukraine, and Sudan have joined the training. Many say the skills have already helped them save lives and feel more prepared in their daily work.
The foundation says that supporting local medics is the best way to make healthcare stronger in the long run. By giving training instead of only short-term aid, communities will be better able to care for people during and after conflict.
