Building Critical Cyber Skills – The UK-Oman Digital Hub

In 2019, the Oman-UK Comprehensive agreement promised cooperation in the areas of digital skills and cyber security. The British Embassy Muscat launched the UK-Oman Digital Hub with the purpose of fulfilling this task. The UK-Oman Digital Hub was created with two separate by linked workstrands, 'Cyber Skills", and "Digital Economy'. The program covers multiple small-scale projects designed to help diversify the Omani economy through support to start-up communities, boost employment in digital technology through training and mentoring, and increase cyber resilience through educational qualifications and talent fostering.

By providing support to developing Oman's cyber security skill base and capabilities, establishing Oman as a region-leader.

raising ambition and aspiration through long-term shaping of 11-18 age group education opportunities and universities.

Act as a UK-Oman digital policy focal point

For UK-Oman digital policy development and co-ordination as well as knowledge transfer and digital best practice.

Digital innovation & entrepreneurship

Utilise enhanced digital skills to develop a tech-friendly environment and supporting business-business links.

Support Oman’s Vision 2040

By developing an innovative knowledge economy built on a high-quality educational system and a dynamic labour market.

The Cyber Skills workstrand comprises a number of linked but separate projects designed to increase Omani cyber resilience, develop the domestic workforce, and equip Omanis with the skills and motivation to pursue a career in cyber security.

The objectives of this program is to:

Equip Omanis with the specialist and technical skills needed to find employment in the cyber security, or related, sector
Contribute to developing national-level Cyber resilience in Oman through skills and awareness
Highlight opportunities in pursuing a career in cyber security, or related, sectors
Demonstrate and leverage UK leadership and expertise in cyber security and identify further opportunities for the UK-Oman partnership

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is looking for a supplier to manage the Cyber Skills workstrand of the UK-Oman Digital Hub. The opportunity is worth £120,000.
