To help women and people with disabilities, a $9.2 million deal has been signed in Palestine. The Ministry of Finance and Planning is in charge of monitoring the World Bank-funded initiative. The agreement was signed by the Ma'an Center with 11 partner organizations and the Center for the Development of Civil Institutions.
The project, named Social Recovery and Job Creation, will help people earn a living by supporting small businesses and services. These include local industries, handicrafts, farming, and food production. Objectives will be that there should be an established steady income and an improved economy for women in the rural areas.
The Development Center's director, Ghassan Kassabra, expressed gratitude to the Ministry and the World Bank for their assistance. He praised the partner organisations for their strong history of assisting women and individuals with disabilities in finding employment. According to him, a fair and competitive process based on actual needs was used to select the projects.
According to Project Director Tahani Al-Madhoun, the initiative is a critical step toward economic recovery. The plan, she explained, supports the government's objective of improving lives and creating jobs, particularly since the current economic challenges disproportionately affect women and people with disabilities.
