Tips & best practices for planning funding efforts and informed engagement decisions:

1. There is a growing trend towards building capacity and supporting small businesses (SMEs, start-ups) as well as social enterprise from donor agencies like USAID and GIZ. Thus, NGOs and international organizations should think how can one go from being a traditionally funded development organization to a sustainable social enterprise. The effort, led by USAID and partners including donor agencies from Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia, seeks to help social enterprises achieving meaningful scale and even partner with bilateral donors. Donors tend to incentivize more social entrepreneurs to being customer-centric, delivering great value — pushing people along that journey to self-reliance.
2. Start engaging and learn about New developed funds such as Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi Donor Trust Fund (YEI MDTF), launched AfDB. Successful organizations invest in donor cultivation/partnership to preserve the support they receive each year.
3. Engage with new organizations such as the following:
   1. Kahane Foundation
   2. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)
   3. Lithuanian Development Cooperation
   4. Europe Aid
   5. DFID
   6. Acted
   7. Mercy Corps
