Medecins Sans Frontieres

Overview

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation that provides emergency medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare. Guided by the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality, MSF’s teams—composed of tens of thousands of health professionals, logisticians and support staff—operate in over 70 countries, delivering both lifesaving care and bearing witness to human rights abuses.

MSF responds to acute crises—conflict zones, epidemics, natural disasters—by deploying mobile clinics, field hospitals and vaccination campaigns to deliver primary care, surgery, maternal‑child health services and epidemic control In protracted settings, MSF implements long‑term programmes targeting HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases, alongside mental‑health support and nutrition programmes Specialist “Access Campaign” teams also advocate globally for affordable medicines and diagnostics, influencing public policy to improve treatment availability.
