According to MSF, the growing conflict across the Middle East is making it much harder for medical teams to reach people in need. Closed air routes, security risks, and damaged roads are affecting humanitarian aid in countries including Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, and Palestine.
As violence continues, hospitals and healthcare workers are facing more pressure every day. Thousands of people in Lebanon have been forced to leave their homes, while hospitals in Gaza remain overwhelmed by ongoing attacks and shortages of medical supplies.
To adapt to the current climate, MSF has chosen to develop and deploy more mobile clinics, provide additional support to local hospitals, and develop contingency plans for providing emergency medical assistance throughout several nations in the area.
MSF also stated that increasing levels of violence are preventing the timely evacuation from these areas for medically necessary reasons and limiting travel for humanitarian personnel across the entire region.
They urged all governments involved in the current situation to protect civilians, healthcare facilities, and humanitarian assistance agencies while emphasizing that the situation is becoming progressively worse with each passing day.
